Evora contains over 4000 buildings of Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture and therefore has been named a museum-city.

Mertola lies next to the Spanish border. Taxis are also readily available around most of the cosmopolitan areas of Portugal such as Lisbon.
